I do have a Sweet Little Boy....

After reading my last post I wanted to be clear that Jackson is not always such a difficult little creature.....He is also very sweet as well. For example, tonight he was back to his silly, cute self. He cuddled with me on the couch, and it always melts my heart when he looks up at me and says (right out of the blue), "Mummy, I like you....." Anyways....that's all. I just wanted to put emphasis on the fact that I do have a very special little boy....

Jackson Started School Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was a big day because Jackson started Montessori School!!! He was very happy this morning getting dressed in his navy sweats and grey t-shirt. Firstly, b/c he LOVES wearing "cozy pants" (so he calls them), and secondly b/c he knew they were his school uniform, and he was all proud. However, I SHOULD have taken a picture at home when he was happy & excited.....When we got to school he got mad because he wanted to put on a Batman mask, and I apparently couldn't put it on correctly (I know, I know....my child is WAY too particular).

Therefore, to make a LONG story short, the pictures that I took of Jackson's first day of school
didn't turn out as I had hoped. Nevertheless, (sigh) I am posting them anyways.....

GRUMPY PANTS!!!!!

Anyways, as soon as I get some happy & smiley pictures of Jackson at school...I will be sure to post them!!! Until then, these will have to suffice.

A Wonderful Lady...

Oma & Opa visiting in Saskatoon

Helen Krahn
August 17th 1928 - December 19th, 2006

I received a very big shock tonight when I received an e-mail from my ex-husband, Marty. He told me that his Oma, Helen Krahn, had passed away from cancer on Dec 19th... I never even knew she was sick.

Helen "Oma" was wonderful woman. In the winter of 1999 I lived in the basement of Opa and Oma's house (in Chilliwack B.C.) before Marty and I got married. They were a sweet couple who were always looking out for other's interests before their own. Oma was always cooking something...perogies, farmer sausage, ribs, platz, and many other Mennonite specialities. She was a dear lady.
As a result of finding out about this, I have learned a very important lesson - NEVER EVER put off till tomorrow what you can do today!!! After Marty and I separated in 2002, and subsequently divorced...God put it on my heart to contact his family. I finally gave in a year or so ago and I called his mother. However, I have been saying for the past four years that I needed to write Oma & Opa a card and tell them how special they were to me.... I never did.

Dear Oma,

Thank you for taking time to care about me, even if we were only in each other's lives for a short while. I am sorry for hurting your grandson. He was a wonderful man....I just wasn't ready. I am happy that you are with the Lord now, and I am blessed to have the peace and assurance that we will meet in heaven again one day. Until then, goodbye. I did love you, and I am sorry I did not say it soon enough.

Love, Lauren

Jackson & Batman

An Array of Batman Toys...

Being a Super Hero...

Jackson's Batman "Mask" (actually a neck warmer)

My child loves superheroes. I don't really know why the fascination began, but his love for them keeps getting stronger and stronger. Looking back, I guess it started around his 3rd b-day in September when I got him the Toy Story movies....he LOVED Buzz Light Year right from the start. Then it was Mr. Incredible, SpiderMan, and now finally....Batman!

He has all of these little Batman figurines that Dale (his Dad) has brought for him. He loves them. Yesterday I gave in and brought him a pair of Batman Jammies with a cape. He has not taken them off since. I would have liked him to get dressed in REAL clothes today, but like Peter Falk (Jackson's babysitters husband) says, "If it isn't illegal, immoral, unethical, or life threatening...don't make a huge issue out of it". Therefore, grudgingly....I haven't.

I do want to point out that my Mum brought Jackson a pair of SpiderMan P.J's for Christmas (which he loved). BUT...I have OUTDONE her b/c they did not have a cape!!!! Anyways, that's all for now. The weather here is miserable (-40 with the windchill) so I am at home today.

P.S. Jackson's Montessori school actually is not starting until this coming Monday (I got the dates mixed up) so I will let you know how it goes.

Jackson is starting school!!!!

Our Home in Moose Jaw

Well, today Jackson, my Mum, and I went to see the new Montessori school here in Moose Jaw (well it's actually a Montessori classroom in a school). Anyways...the result? My sweet little boy will be starting pre-school next week. Montessori starts kids early...they can start at 2 and a half. It is Monday to Friday from 8:45am - 11:30am. It is a very structured school, and I think it will be good for Jackson as he desperately needs interaction with kids his own age. I have put the Canadian Montessori website under my links for anybody who wants to check out the Montessori philosophy. My mother was pretty excited about this as my older sister went to Montessori when she was Jackson's age...and of course she is now a genius!!!

In other news...I am starting work again next week. It's gonna take awhile to get back into the swing of things. I took down all my Christmas decorations today and that was a BIG job b/c I have quite a few!!! Well, this is turning into a boring post, so I am going to say goodbye for now...
